The Difficulty with International Criminality Checking

Data released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) has revealed that 11 percent of all people employed in the United Kingdom are non-UK nationals. Although it is a more complicated process, hiring foreign nationals is a way the country fills skills shortages and meets labour demands, as well as increases diversity in the workplace. Ensuring the backgrounds of applicants are free of criminal records is integral in ensuring competency for the role. Employers carrying out international criminal records checks, however, should have a comprehensive understanding of international laws and regulations.
