A recent CV-Library survey revealed that 92.5 percent of United Kingdom adults have gotten away with lying on their CV and of the 1,000 workers polled, a third said they would be willing to lie about the dates of their previous employment. The most common reasons for this include looking more experienced, appearing more qualified and earning a higher salary. But CV-Library CEO and founder Lee Biggins said, though it can be tempting to lie on a CV, many interviewers can spot the lies and should the candidate actually get hired, their lack of knowledge and experience in specific areas will lead to questions. There are serious criminal consequences for those who take it as far as lying about a degree or changing the grades on a qualification, so it’s important to consider how being truthful can actually be impressive for hiring managers.
