Proposed Bill May Require Background Checks on Delivery Drivers

A proposed bill, the Evelyn Udell Delivery Bill, which will be filed in Tallahassee, will require background checks for delivery drivers. According to State Rep. Mike Caruso, R-Delray Beach, the bill will have two components: 1. Big box stores would have to notify customers when a delivery service has been subcontracted by a third-party and 2. Require more extensive Level 2 background checks mandatory for subcontracted delivery people where they enter a customer’s name. The bill will not affect services like UPS, FedEx or food delivery.
