Pennsylvania Now Permits Medical Marijuana Use for Anxiety and Tourette Syndrome

Pennsylvania’s list of “serious medical conditions” under the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act (MMA) now includes anxiety and Tourette Syndrome. Conditions like cancer, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, and inflammatory bowel disease resulted in 110,000 registered medical marijuana users under the Act. With 19 percent of U.S. adults having experienced anxiety disorders in the past year, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, it is believed that the addition of anxiety as a qualifying condition will likely increase the user population.
