New Legislation on Personal Data Processing by Employers

Requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of personal data (General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR) came into force in May. Carrying severe financial penalties for breaches of data protection provisions, those who violate regulations could face as much as EUR 20 million. The GDPR, the Ministry of Digitalization has prepared drafts of some of the regulations, which includes amendments to the Labour Code. Some proposed amendments introduce limitations that are more restrictive than the current provisions.
