Maine to Modernize Fingerprinting, Criminal History Records with Federal Grant

Thanks to a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP), the fingerprinting system in Maine will be updated to enhance the criminal justice and record systems nationwide. The funding, among other things, will support an automated fingerprinting identification system (AFIS) that will be shared by Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and also will support the upgrades of five “livescan” fingerprinting locations throughout the state.
