Legalized Marijuana Closer to Reality in Kentucky as Pot Bill Moves Forward

Kentucky’s proposed House Bill 136, which would legalize medical marijuana, has won initial committee approval. Patients who are battling chronic pain and debilitating medical conditions provided testimonies, leading the House Judiciary Committee to a 16-1 vote. In order to be passed into law, the bill still needs Senate approval. Including regulations for growers, processors and dispensers, the measure prohibits the smoking of marijuana for medical purposes, but rather would be dispensed in forms such as pills and oils for those suffering chronic pain, nausea, epilepsy and some diseases.
