INDIA RELEASES DRAFT PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION

India has released its Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018, the countrys first comprehensive data protection regulation. The proposed bill will likely be introduced in Parliament this year. The proposed bill outlines requirements and limitations for the lawful collection and processing of personal data and sensitive personal data. It defines personal data and sensitive data, and it also outlines violations, which is two percent of global annual turnover of the preceding financial year. Indias Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology invites public comment through September 10, 2018.
