As part of the 60-day Florida Legislature session, which began March 5, 2019, two bills that address biometric information privacy will be considered. HB1153 from House Representative Bobby DuBose (D) and SB 1270 from Senator Gary Farmer, Jr. (D), aim to “establish requirements and restrictions on private entities as to use, collection, and maintenance of biometric identifiers and biometric information.” The measures are nearly identical to the existing Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act.
