Detecting Recent Marijuana Use – Is Oral Fluid Testing the Solution?

With marijuana becoming a legal substance from coast to coast, employers are beginning to question where they stand in terms of drug testing policies. A 2018 Employer Drug Testing Survey from the Current Consulting Group revealed that 67 percent of employers are concerned about marijuana in the workplace and, while no employers in the United States are restricted from testing employees, many are questioning whether the method of testing will allow them to prove recent use of the drug. Studies have shown that testing via oral fluids is the most effective and practical method for recent-use marijuana testing. In fact, lab-based oral fluid testing detects parent THC in as little as 15 minutes after use and continues detecting it up to two days post use.
