The Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA) has filed a lawsuit against the New Jersey Attorney General, seeking an injunction to block enforcement of revisions to New Jersey law that require nationwide consumer reporting agencies (NCRAs) to make credit reports available to consumers in multiple languages other than English. The complaint alleges that the amendment to the state’s Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is preempted by federal law and violates the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
