Amazon the Latest to Face Discrimination Suit Over Medical Marijuana in the Workplace

Although the majority of U.S. states have legalized medical marijuana, many companies continue to test employees for marijuana and take adverse action based on positive tests. The disconnect between the legal use of marijuana and employment has created a growing amount of litigation, including the most recent case in which a New Jersey man has sued Amazon, claiming he was fired from his job for a positive marijuana test, despite having a valid medical marijuana card. The former employee claims his rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act have been violated.
