Considered the most sweeping consumer privacy law in the country, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is scheduled to be operating in January 2020. Regarding the definition of “personal information,” the CCPA considers this “information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household.” The broad definition is detailed further by a nonexclusive list of information that provides examples of the types of data the CCPA considers covered by “personal information.”
