Hound Labs has conducted countless research on human subjects to fine-tune its highly sensitive and automated breath technology, the Hound Cannabis Breathalyzer. There have been several lessons learned throughout the years when it comes to testing for THC. One of them is to always use a saliva (oral fluid) trap to separate breath from oral fluid. Another key finding is to standardize the volume of the breath sample and utilize a filter designed and tested to be effective for THC collection. And finally, the company recommends either testing a collected breath sample right away or preserving it in a liquid form, not a frozen form, which can lead to THC “spikes” and “valleys.”
