There are six types of background checks that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is authorized to perform:
• Texas Criminal History check
• National Criminal History check
• Central Registry check
• Out-of-State Abuse/Neglect History check
• Out-of-State Criminal History check
• Out-of-State Sex Offender Registry
Background checks are required for:
• Child Care providers
• Residential Child Care providers
• Foster and adoptive homes
