The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services, an agency of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), has launched its Child Abuse/Neglect (CAN) Payment and Verification online portal, which will allow users to request a check of the CAN Registry electronically instead of via paper forms. The online system will help child care providers and schools process staff background checks faster. According to CHFS Secretary Eric Friedlander, the change makes the hiring process faster, while updating administrative practices during the novel coronavirus 2019 pandemic.
