Researcher and Data Standards Required for CRAs Seeking PBSA Accreditation

Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs) are required by the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) to enforce high standards for public record researchers that search for court records that include criminal records to ensure they comply with the federal, state and local laws for background screening. Accreditation with the PBSA means complying with six sections of the Background Screening Agency Accreditation Program (BSAAP). Within the Researcher and Data Standards section, six clauses include Public Record Researcher Agreement, Vetting Requirement, Public Record Researcher Certification, Errors and Omissions Coverage (E&O), Information Security and Auditing Procedures.
