Remote Drug Screening Gains Acceptance During Pandemic

More and more companies have moved to conducting business through remote means throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including drug screenings. The American Society of Addiction Medicine published guidance in late April regarding patient care in response to the pandemic, noting that presenting urine or saliva samples to a healthcare facility may be more harmful than beneficial. Recommendations include pausing testing for low-risk patients, identifying alternative means for obtaining information about medication adherence and exploring options for drug testing at a distance.
