A marijuana legalization bill was signed into law in New Mexico, which makes it lawful for adults 21 and older to be able to use and grow marijuana for recreational purposes. A legal, regulated market will be launched in 2022, with cannabis products taxed at levels beyond the state’s sales tax. A separate measure will allow people with past marijuana convictions to expunge their records and makes people serving a punishment for a marijuana-related crime eligible for resentencing.
