Nannies ‘Call the Shots’ as Parents Face a Child Care Shortage

The pandemic has caused a shortage of trained nannies, leaving parents to provide higher pay and better benefits for those who stuck around in the industry. High-quality nannies lost or were forced to leave their jobs when the pandemic caused shutdowns. With kids returning to school and parents heading back to the office, parents are facing extreme challenges, such as the need to find vaccinated nannies for their young, unvaccinated children and child care providers willing to take public transportation to get to work.
