Missouri Looks to Run Background Checks on Health Care Advisors

The Missouri Legislature passed a bill that requires background checks for individuals who will assist others selecting health insurance through the federally run website, healthcare.gov. Senate Bill 508 requires anyone applying to be a navigator (the term used to define these health care advisers) to supply two sets of fingerprints to the Missouri State Highway Patrol to be used for criminal background checks. Gov. Jay Nixon has until mid-July to decide whether to sign or veto the legislation.
