Labor Shortage Accelerates Shift Away from Drug Testing for New Hires

With drug testing down about 41 percent since the start of the pandemic, some industries are recognizing a growing need to do away with drug tests in order to keep staff. The Current Consulting Group told Yahoo Finance that when it comes to marijuana testing, a fairly significant percentage of the workforce could be lost due to strict policies. Drug tests in Isle, Minn., are no longer required for most jobs in the municipal offices and Amazon has done away with the screening process, but it will continue to “do impairment checks on the job and will test for all drugs and alcohol after any incident.”
