Intoxicants in the Workplace

Under section 8 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, employers are required to ensure the safety, health and welfare at work of employees. This includes ensuring the prevention of improper conduct or behavior that could put employees at risk. Employers are required to identify workplace hazards, complete a risk assessment in relation to those hazards, and prepare a safety statement. Employees must comply with all relevant statutory provisions take reasonable care to protect themselves and others at work and cooperate with their employer to enable their employer to comply with health and safety legislation.
