Remote work has become commonplace since the start of the pandemic and with that has come a new risk: impersonation. Happening more often in the IT industry, the rise in impersonation has been occurring during virtual interviews and automation and the decrease in personal interaction with HR is a big part of the problem. Falsification of employment or educational credentials is nothing new, but remote work has made an existing issue much worse. Risks to the company include financial and reputation losses, as well as legal ramifications. Employers should be prepared to recognize impersonation through the use of on-demand digital identity verification, powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a robust technical backend.
