The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) UK is launching the second edition of its Cookies Guide, which has the aim of building on its April guidance to provide website operators with a comprehensive framework they can use as a tool to comply with the complex e-Privacy rules. “We have worked hard in recent months to develop a more accessible guide – one that is both user and website operator friendly,” said Michael Bond, Policy Advisor at the ICC UK. “We have included new content on the applicability of the law to businesses operating internationally, as well as further clarity on implied consent.” The first edition of the Guide helped website operators categorize the cookies they use and select appropriate methods to obtain informed consent to the use of cookies from website users. The second edition has started to take on a more international feel, which is in line with the needs of ICC’s international membership. The ICC states the views of experts, both legal and technical, were sought at every step when producing the second edition of the Guide, which is also accessible to all businesses big or small.
