House Approves Kuhn Bill to Strengthen Maine’s Data Privacy Laws

The Maine House of Representatives has approved a bill, L.D. 1822, sponsored by Rep. Amy Kuhn to strengthen data privacy protections in Maine. The proposal focuses on data minimization, limiting companies to collecting only the personal information necessary to deliver a service and banning the sale of sensitive data like race, gender, health details, and minors’ data. If fully passed and signed, the law would take effect on July 1, 2027.
