Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that there were 4,907 deaths related to drug poisoning recorded in England and Wales last year. The number, which decreased for males and increased for females in 2022 for both poisoning and drug misuse, demonstrates a 1 percent increase from 2021 and it is the highest since records began 30 years ago.
