After seizing equipment that was used by a gang to clone fingerprints, an investigation by the Noida police has revealed that Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) was being misused by the cybercriminals. According to Triveni Singh, superintendent of Police cyber cell, money was being withdrawn using AEPS for which the victims never used their thumb impression. It was determined that the accused stole aadhar numbers and fingerprints of his victims from the registrar office through a hacking and cloning technique he learned through YouTube and the internet, using equipment he purchased on shopping sites like Amazon, Flipkart, and eBay.
