California Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Privacy Protection Agency launched the Delete Request and Opt‑out Platform (DROP), a first‑of‑its‑kind privacy tool that lets California residents send a single request to registered data brokers to delete their personal information and block its sale. The system simplifies privacy rights enforcement under the Delete Act, enhancing individual control over personal data and limiting broker sales. Data brokers must start processing requests by August 1, 2026.
