FBI Warns of ‘Deepfakes,’ Stolen ID in Applications for Remote Work

Deepfakes, which include a video, an image, or a recording convincingly altered and manipulated to misrepresent someone as doing or saying something that was not done or said, is the latest topic in a warning issued by the FBI. The agency is receiving an increase in complaints about the use of deep fakes and stolen personally identifiable information (PII) related to remote work and work-at-home positions. Most of the jobs are in the field of technology and complaints include voice spoofing, in which the actions and lip movement of the person seen do match up with the person speaking.
