Client Education Necessary for CRAs Seeking PBSA Accreditation

Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs) that are seeking accreditation by the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) should aim to educate clients about how to understand the information in background check reports, how to protect personal information and how to comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Accredited CRAs must demonstrate conformity with six sections of the Background Screening Agency Accreditation Program (BSAAP) Standard, including Information Security, Legal and Compliance, Client Education, Researcher and Data Standards, Verification Services Standards and Business Practices. Four clauses within client education include Truth in Advertising, Legal Counsel, Understanding Consumer Reports and Information Protection.
