CBP Wants One Company to Fingerprint All 60,000+ of its Workers

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is planning to hire a single private contractor to manage fingerprinting for its roughly 60,000 employees and applicants. The proposal would centralize the entire process — scheduling, collection, data transmission, and tracking — under one company to improve efficiency and consistency. While CBP says the move will streamline hiring and background checks, it raises concerns about privacy, data security, and reliance on a single vendor for sensitive biometric information.
