Can My Nanny Take Time Off to Vote?

Federal law does not require household employees to provide workers with time off to vote, but state voting leave laws may require time off. Sometimes, however, if there is time to vote during non-working hours, the employee may not be eligible for leave. Household employers should consider offering paid time off even if it is not mandated by state law, making Election Day a paid holiday, and providing information on early voting.
