90% of Employers Consider an Applicant’s Social Media Activity During Hiring Process

According to The Manifest 2020 Recruitment Survey, 90 percent of employers find social media important when they evaluate candidates and 79 percent of HR professionals have denied a job to a candidate due to inappropriate content on social media. Almost 43 percent of HR professionals rely on Google to research job candidates and social media can be useful in locating red flags like any type of hate speech, images of illegal drug use, illegal of illicit content, negative comments about previous jobs or clients, deceptive posts, threats to people or past employers and confidential or sensitive information about people or previous employers. It is important for businesses to use companies that are compliant with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
