The report indicates that 79% of survey respondents stated that conducting background checks improved the quality of their hires. Also, more companies are realizing the importance of thorough background checks and are adding supplemental checks which are over and above those required by the FMCSA – such as criminal checks, CDLIS, and PSP. These additional checks help with risk mitigation and may provide some protection against nuclear verdicts. In addition, survey respondents indicated that Driver Record Monitoring is the top background screening service that companies are considering adding this year.
