Research by Seek has revealed that 59 percent of candidates believe it is not acceptable to lie during a job interview, yet there are certain topics that candidates consider that it might be in their best interests to conceal something. Common lies surround these five questions: Why are you looking for a new job? What was the salary of your most recent role? What is your main weakness? Interests outside of work? Previous experience? Employers can check an applicant’s claim by asking for detail, looking at social media and performing reference checks.
