Working with Children Check and Police Check

In Australia, a police check or “Working With Children Check” (WWCC) is often required by parents or by legislation in each state to not only provide peace of mind to parents, but also to ensure the safety and wellness of the children under the babysitter or nanny’s care. www.policecheck.com/au/ is a great national service to obtain a police check. Specifically, in Victoria, a “National Police Record Check” can be filled out for a small fee and certified within 10 working days. A Working with Children Check also exists in Victoria, but is only needed for sitters working for a commercial agency. In New South Wales, a police check application can be obtained from the local police station, where a “Standard Disclosure” is recommended. The Working with Children Check there is for careers in child-related work, employed by a commercial agency. Those in Queensland can apply at any police station for a Criminal History Record Check or a Police Certificate, which is Australia-wide.
