The #1 Obstacle to Accurate Name Screening Isn’t Data: It’s Search

Carlos Azeglio, business development lead at Basis Technology, and Patrick Deeb, senior solutions engineer with Rosette Text Analytics, discussed how “searches” perform poorly when searching for names and what name search needs to be accurate and successful. They pointed out that the fundamental assumptions of text search don’t work for name search and that standard fuzzy matching algorithms aren’t enough for names. A new hybrid name matching system includes AI and aligns data in a way that is more effective than rules-based name matching, which can be difficult to maintain.
