Strategies for Overcoming County Criminal Records Search Delays in Background Checks

There is no denying that background screening leads to safer environments, but one major challenge for those within the industry is the increasing prevalence of county courthouses redacting dates of birth (DOB) from criminal records at their public access terminals. The resulting physical searches then can lead to extended delays. Organizations might want to consider adopting provisional acceptance strategies for candidates awaiting county criminal records searches; implementing Continuous Criminal Monitoring (CCM); and seeking written certifications from candidates regarding their criminal history.
