The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint (IC3) Center has released an alert entitled “Deepfakes and Stolen PII Utilized to Apply for Remote Work Positions,” in which it describes the latest fraud attempts. Specifically targeting remote positions within tech companies, the warning claims “Complaints report the use of voice spoofing, or potentially voice deep fakes, during online interviews of the potential applicants.” At times, the lip movements of the person being interviewed don’t always match up with the audio of the person speaking. The complaints also depict the use of stolen PII to apply for remote positions.
