PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION BILL-STATUS OF THE LEGISLATION AND DATA REGULATION REGIME IN INDIA

It’s been a year since the Indian Government introduced the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 in Parliament, however, there is still confusion as to the enactment and implementation of the final version of the legislation. The Indian rules surrounding data protection are still a legal quagmire and the law seems to be still stuck in Parliamentary procedure. Formalities currently said to be in final stages of parliamentary review are being examined by a Joint Parliamentary Committee.
