Federal government employees or those thinking of applying for a federal government job should begin to clean up their social media footprint if they dont want to be terminated or turned down for a position. HR 3737-Social Media Use in Clearance Investigations Act of 2017 focuses on social media background checks for workers who need security clearances. The new bill appears to be moving through Congress, but it is a bit too early to determine how social media backgrounds checks will be performed and who they will focus on.
