The role of the Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) within the Substance Abuse Professional Drug and Alcohol Program is to evaluate DOT-mandated safety-sensitive employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol regulation. Steps, that aim to rehabilitate and comply with regulations of safety-sensitive positions, include a violent occurrence, initial evaluation, treatment and education, follow-up evaluation, return-to-duty testing, and a follow-up testing plan.
