EU DPAs Reject Many Proposed Changes to the GDPR

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) issued a joint opinion strongly rejecting key GDPR changes proposed in the EU’s Digital Omnibus reform package, including narrowing the definition of personal data and limiting the right of access. They also raised concerns that several provisions lack clarity and would weaken data protection rights rather than simplify compliance, urging lawmakers to revise or drop problematic proposals.
