DATA PRIVACY LAW SOON TO BE EFFECTIVE IN PANAMA

On March 29, 2021, Law 81/2019 for the Protection of Personal Data will go into effect in the Republic of Panama. The Law applies to all individuals and legal entities from the public or private sector, profit or non-profit, that handle sensitive data. The law is based on loyalty, intention, proportionality, veracity and accuracy, data security, transparency, confidentiality, lawfulness, and portability.
