BELARUS ADVANCES DATA PROTECTION LAW

A data privacy law in Belarus has moved a step closer following the bill’s second reading in the lower chamber of parliament. The proposed legislation defines the general concept and categories of personal data, the principles, and conditions of working with it, and determines the procedure for cross-border transfer of that information. There are also additional guarantees against arbitrary and uncontrolled collection, storage, use, distribution, and other processing of personal data of individuals.
