Privacy officials in California have pushed forward with key initiatives involving formal rulemaking that would significantly impact businesses and employers using resume screening and other automated decision-making technology (ADMT). The agency is also looking at finalizing data broker registration requirements and updating the future direction of California Consumer Privacy Act. Employers would be wise to identify ADMTs within the business, consider submitting a public comment on CPPA regulations, evaluating whether the business qualifies as a data broker and reviewing the website’s tracking technology.
