Still, nearly a quarter of the respondents in a recent survey revealed that they are more concerned about identity theft due to the health crisis. Government slowdowns and shutdowns and inaccessibility of government databases are to blame for the lag in the background screening process. Drug screenings have also been affected due to facilities being closed and a reduction in hours of operation. The I-9 verification process also is taking longer than expected and the remote work environment has made it more difficult for businesses to find people to perform background screening tasks.
