When meeting someone online, it is important to pause to consider whether that person may be hiding something important by exploring criminal records, bankruptcy filings, aliases, and social media accounts. Although doing so may seem a bit over the top, the person may be catfishing or living another life. Start by googling the person, searching for social media profiles, looking them up on LinkedIn, running a reverse image search, completing a county criminal record search, checking them out on Stud or Dud, and running a public records search.
