BRAZIL PROPOSES ADAPTATION OF DATA PROTECTION RULES FOR SMES

Brazil’s National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) is proposing an adaptation of the current data protection rules or small and medium businesses.  ANPD Director Arthur Pereira Sabbat said the authority is structuring a first draft of the rules. He said the goal is to adapt the rules so small and medium enterprises can comply with the GDPR at a minimal level. A survey by RD Station of SMEs said the biggest problem is finding complete and objective information on the subject, while 20% mentioned the lack of access to tools to adapt to the requirements. Lack of technical knowledge of the legal team appeared in 13% of responses, while the lack of resources to adapt to the LGPD was the main reason for non-compliance for 8% of those polled.
